2021-04-16Import: Cleanup and optimize etcpak compression methodRémi Verschelde
Avoid unnecessary allocation of temporary buffers for each mip, and creates only one Image with the compressed data. Also renames variable and reorders code for clarity. Clarify that squish is now only used for decompression. Documented which formats can be decompressed in Image.
2021-04-13Add `etcpak` library for faster ETC/ETC2/S3TC imports.K. S. Ernest (iFire) Lee
- `etc` module was renamed to `etcpak` and modified to use the new library. - PKM importer is removed in the process, it's obsolete. - Old library `etc2comp` is removed. - S3TC compression no longer done via `squish` (but decompression still is). - Slight modifications to etcpak sources for MinGW compatibility, to fix LLVM `-Wc++11-narrowing` errors, and to allow using vendored or system libpng. 2021-01-01Update copyright statements to 2021Rémi Verschelde
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community! 2020 has been a tough year for most of us personally, but a good year for Godot development nonetheless with a huge amount of work done towards Godot 4.0 and great improvements backported to the long-lived 3.2 branch. We've had close to 400 contributors to engine code this year, authoring near 7,000 commit! (And that's only for the `master` branch and for the engine code, there's a lot more when counting docs, demos and other first-party repos.) Here's to a great year 2021 for all Godot users 🎆
2020-12-18SCons: Add explicit dependencies on thirdparty code in cloned envRémi Verschelde
Since we clone the environments to build thirdparty code, we don't get an explicit dependency on the build objects produced by that environment. So when we update thirdparty code, Godot code using it is not necessarily rebuilt (I think it is for changed headers, but not for changed .c/.cpp files), which can lead to an invalid compilation output (linking old Godot .o files with a newer, potentially ABI breaking version of thirdparty code). This was only seen as really problematic with bullet updates (leading to crashes when rebuilding Godot after a bullet update without cleaning .o files), but it's safer to fix it everywhere, even if it's a LOT of hacky boilerplate.
2020-11-07Reorganized core/ directory, it was too fatty alreadyreduz
-Removed FuncRef, since Callable makes it obsolete -Removed int_types.h as its obsolete in c++11+ -Changed color names code
2020-05-14Style: Enforce braces around if blocks and loopsRémi Verschelde
Using clang-tidy's `readability-braces-around-statements`. https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/readability-braces-around-statements.html
2020-05-14Style: clang-format: Disable KeepEmptyLinesAtTheStartOfBlocksRémi Verschelde
Which means that reduz' beloved style which we all became used to will now be changed automatically to remove the first empty line. This makes us lean closer to 1TBS (the one true brace style) instead of hybridating it with some Allman-inspired spacing. There's still the case of braces around single-statement blocks that needs to be addressed (but clang-format can't help with that, but clang-tidy may if we agree about it). Part of #33027.
2020-03-30SCons: Format buildsystem files with psf/blackRémi Verschelde
Configured for a max line length of 120 characters. psf/black is very opinionated and purposely doesn't leave much room for configuration. The output is mostly OK so that should be fine for us, but some things worth noting: - Manually wrapped strings will be reflowed, so by using a line length of 120 for the sake of preserving readability for our long command calls, it also means that some manually wrapped strings are back on the same line and should be manually merged again. - Code generators using string concatenation extensively look awful, since black puts each operand on a single line. We need to refactor these generators to use more pythonic string formatting, for which many options are available (`%`, `format` or f-strings). - CI checks and a pre-commit hook will be added to ensure that future buildsystem changes are well-formatted.
2020-03-23Adding missing include guards to header files identified by LGTM.Rajat Goswami
This addresses the issue godotengine/godot#37143
2020-02-18PoolVector is gone, replaced by VectorJuan Linietsky
Typed `PoolTypeArray` types are now renamed `PackedTypeArray` and are sugar for `Vector<Type>`.
2020-02-11Rewritten StreamTexture for better code reuse, added basis universal supportJuan Linietsky
2020-01-13Image: Include S3TC compression via Squish in non-tools buildRémi Verschelde
We already build Squish in templates build for S3TC decompression, so we can as well expose the compression feature. Fixes #25640.
2020-01-01Update copyright statements to 2020Rémi Verschelde
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community! We're starting a new decade with a well-established, non-profit, free and open source game engine, and tons of further improvements in the pipeline from hundreds of contributors. Godot will keep getting better, and we're looking forward to all the games that the community will keep developing and releasing with it.

2019-07-06Added release function to PoolVector::Access.Ibrahn Sahir
For clarity, assign-to-release idiom for PoolVector::Read/Write replaced with a function call. Existing uses replaced (or removed if already handled by scope)
2019-04-30SCons: Always use env.Prepend for CPPPATHRémi Verschelde
Include paths are processed from left to right, so we use Prepend to ensure that paths to bundled thirdparty files will have precedence over system paths (e.g. `/usr/include` should have lowest priority).
2019-04-09Style: Apply new changes from clang-format 8.0Rémi Verschelde
It seems to stay compatible with formatting done by clang-format 6.0 and 7.0, so contributors can keep using those versions for now (they will not undo those changes).

2018-09-28SCons: Build thirdparty code in own env, disable warningsRémi Verschelde
Also remove unnecessary `Export('env')` in other SCsubs, Export should only be used when exporting *new* objects.
2018-09-12Make core/ includes absolute, remove subfolders from include pathRémi Verschelde
This allows more consistency in the manner we include core headers, where previously there would be a mix of absolute, relative and include path-dependent includes.

2018-05-30SCons: Pass env to modules can_build methodRémi Verschelde
This allows to disable modules based on the environment, in particular `env[tools]` which tells us if we are building the editor or not.
2018-01-05Add missing copyright headers and fix formattingRémi Verschelde
Using `misc/scripts/fix_headers.py` on all Godot files. Some missing header guards were added, and the header inclusion order was fixed in the Bullet module.
