All reviewed manually and occasionally rewritten to avoid bad auto formatting.
2021-09-07[Net] Move multiplayer to core subdir, split RPCManager.Fabio Alessandrelli
Move multiplayer classes to "core/multiplayer" subdir. Move the RPCConfig and enums (TransferMode, RPCMode) to a separate file (multiplayer.h), and bind them to the global namespace. Move the RPC handling code to its own class (RPCManager). Renames "get_rpc_sender_id" to "get_remote_sender_id".
2021-08-02Implement inherits_script() for NativeScript and PluginScriptPedro J. Estébanez
2021-06-19Rename `instance()`->`instantiate()` when it's a verbLightning_A
2021-06-11Rename Reference to RefCountedPedro J. Estébanez
2021-06-11Core: Move DirAccess and FileAccess to `core/io`Rémi Verschelde
File handling APIs are typically considered part of I/O, and we did have most `FileAccess` implementations in `core/io` already.
2021-06-01[Net] Refactor RPCs, remove RSETsFabio Alessandrelli
In this PR: - Removed rset - rpc_config can now optionally configure transfer mode (reliable/unreliable/ordered) and channel (channels are not actually implemented yet.) - Refactor how the RPC id is computed to minimize the logic in Node and scripts that now only needs a single `get_rpc_methods` function.
2021-05-30Check for _language in PluginScript.instance_hasPaweł Fertyk
2021-05-25Rename File::get_len() get_length()Marcel Admiraal
2021-05-17Make all file access 64-bit (uint64_t)Pedro J. Estébanez
This changes the types of a big number of variables. General rules: - Using `uint64_t` in general. We also considered `int64_t` but eventually settled on keeping it unsigned, which is also closer to what one would expect with `size_t`/`off_t`. - We only keep `int64_t` for `seek_end` (takes a negative offset from the end) and for the `Variant` bindings, since `Variant::INT` is `int64_t`. This means we only need to guard against passing negative values in `core_bind.cpp`. - Using `uint32_t` integers for concepts not needing such a huge range, like pages, blocks, etc. In addition: - Improve usage of integer types in some related places; namely, `DirAccess`, core binds. Note: - On Windows, `_ftelli64` reports invalid values when using 32-bit MinGW with version < 8.0. This was an upstream bug fixed in 8.0. It breaks support for big files on 32-bit Windows builds made with that toolchain. We might add a workaround. Fixes #44363. Fixes godotengine/godot-proposals#400. 2021-01-01Update copyright statements to 2021Rémi Verschelde
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community! 2020 has been a tough year for most of us personally, but a good year for Godot development nonetheless with a huge amount of work done towards Godot 4.0 and great improvements backported to the long-lived 3.2 branch. We've had close to 400 contributors to engine code this year, authoring near 7,000 commit! (And that's only for the `master` branch and for the engine code, there's a lot more when counting docs, demos and other first-party repos.) Here's to a great year 2021 for all Godot users 🎆
2020-12-08Add PluginScript support for global class naming/icon pathEmmanuel Leblond
2020-05-14Style: Enforce braces around if blocks and loopsRémi Verschelde
Using clang-tidy's `readability-braces-around-statements`. https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/readability-braces-around-statements.html
2020-05-14Style: clang-format: Disable KeepEmptyLinesAtTheStartOfBlocksRémi Verschelde
Which means that reduz' beloved style which we all became used to will now be changed automatically to remove the first empty line. This makes us lean closer to 1TBS (the one true brace style) instead of hybridating it with some Allman-inspired spacing. There's still the case of braces around single-statement blocks that needs to be addressed (but clang-format can't help with that, but clang-tidy may if we agree about it). Part of #33027.
2020-05-14Port member initialization from constructor to declaration (C++11)Rémi Verschelde
Using `clang-tidy`'s `modernize-use-default-member-init` check and manual review of the changes, and some extra manual changes that `clang-tidy` failed to do. Also went manually through all of `core` to find occurrences that `clang-tidy` couldn't handle, especially all initializations done in a constructor without using initializer lists.
2020-04-21Add ability to bind typed arrays to script APIJuan Linietsky
Note: Only replaced 2 instances to test, Node.get_children and TileMap.get_used_cells Note: Will do a mass replace on later PRs of whathever I can find, but probably need a tool to grep through doc. Warning: Mono will break, needs to be fixed (and so do TypeScript and NativeScript, need to ask respective maintainers)
2020-04-02Replace NULL with nullptrlupoDharkael
2020-03-08Refactor ScriptDebugger.Fabio Alessandrelli
EngineDebugger is the new interface to access the debugger. It tries to be as agnostic as possible on the data that various subsystems can expose. It allows 2 types of interactions: - Profilers: A subsystem can register a profiler, assigning it a unique name. That name can be used to activate the profiler or add data to it. The registered profiler can be composed of up to 3 functions: - Toggle: called when the profiler is activated/deactivated. - Add: called whenever data is added to the debugger (via `EngineDebugger::profiler_add_frame_data`) - Tick: called every frame (during idle), receives frame times. - Captures: (Only relevant in remote debugger for now) A subsystem can register a capture, assigning it a unique name. When receiving a message, the remote debugger will check if it starts with `[prefix]:` and call the associated capture with name `prefix`. Port MultiplayerAPI, Servers, Scripts, Visual, Performance to the new profiler system. Port SceneDebugger and RemoteDebugger to the new capture system. The LocalDebugger also uses the new profiler system for scripts profiling.
2020-02-20Reworked signal connection system, added support for Callable and Signal ↵Juan Linietsky
objects and made them default.
2020-02-18PoolVector is gone, replaced by VectorJuan Linietsky
Typed `PoolTypeArray` types are now renamed `PackedTypeArray` and are sugar for `Vector<Type>`.
2020-02-12Optmized data sent during RPC and RSet calls.Andrea Catania
- Now is sent the method ID rather the full function name. - The passed IDs (Node and Method) are compressed so to use less possible space. - The variant (INT and BOOL) is now encoded and compressed so to use much less data. - Optimized RPCMode retrieval for GDScript functions. - Added checksum to assert the methods are the same across peers. This work has been kindly sponsored by IMVU.
2020-01-01Update copyright statements to 2020Rémi Verschelde
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community! We're starting a new decade with a well-established, non-profit, free and open source game engine, and tons of further improvements in the pipeline from hundreds of contributors. Godot will keep getting better, and we're looking forward to all the games that the community will keep developing and releasing with it.

2019-08-26Make VarArg methods return types show up as Variant in API jsontoasteater
VarArg methods have the return type Object in the API json for GDNative. This can cause undefined behavior in some language bindings due to lack of documentation on VarArg methods' behavior. This changes the MethodInfo of: - CSharpScript::_new - GDScript::_new - PluginScript::_new

Also, fix crash in PluginScript destructor.
2019-06-29 Fixed cases of unsupported pointers being used to construct variantsAndrettin
2019-06-11Fix error macro calls not ending with semicolonRémi Verschelde
It's not necessary, but the vast majority of calls of error macros do have an ending semicolon, so it's best to be consistent. Most WARN_DEPRECATED calls did *not* have a semicolon, but there's no reason for them to be treated differently.
