2022-05-02Style: Partially apply clang-tidy's `cppcoreguidelines-pro-type-member-init`Rémi Verschelde
Didn't commit all the changes where it wants to initialize a struct with `{}`. Should be reviewed in a separate PR. Option `IgnoreArrays` enabled for now to be conservative, can be disabled to see if it proposes more useful changes. Also fixed manually a handful of other missing initializations / moved some from constructors.

2022-03-10Discern between virtual and abstract class bindingsreduz
* Previous "virtual" classes (which can't be instantiated) are not corretly named "abstract". * Added a new "virtual" category for classes, they can't be instantiated from the editor, but can be inherited from script and extensions. * Converted a large amount of classes from "abstract" to "virtual" where it makes sense. Most classes that make sense have been converted. Missing: * Physics servers * VideoStream * Script* classes. which will go in a separate PR due to the complexity involved.

2022-02-08Revert "Add missing SNAME macro optimization to all theme methods call"Rémi Verschelde
This reverts commit a988fad9a092053434545c32afae91ccbdfbe792. As discussed in #57725 and clarified in #57788, `SNAME` is not meant to be used everywhere but only in critical code paths. For theme methods specifically, it was by design that only getters use `SNAME` and not setters.

2021-08-23Entirely removes BIND_VMETHOD in favor of GDVIRTUALreduz
* `_gui_input`, `_input`, `_unhandled_input` and `_unhandled_key_input` are now regular C++ virutal functions. * Everything else converted to GDVIRTUAL * BIND_VMETHOD is gone, always use the new syntax from now on. Creating `_gui_input` method and using the binder to register events will no longer work, simply override the virtual function now.

2021-07-25Use const references where possible for List range iteratorsRémi Verschelde
2021-07-23Use C++ iterators for Lists in many situationsAaron Franke
2021-07-18Optimize StringName usagereduz
* Added a new macro SNAME() that constructs and caches a local stringname. * Subsequent usages use the cached version. * Since these use a global static variable, a second refcounter of static usages need to be kept for cleanup time. * Replaced all theme usages by this new macro. * Replace all signal emission usages by this new macro. * Replace all call_deferred usages by this new macro. This is part of ongoing work to optimize GUI and the editor.

2021-05-27Improve the audio bus editor appearanceHugo Locurcio
- Use the editor font color for notch lines and text instead of a more contrasted color. - Reuse the editor theme's tooltip styling and apply it on theme change. - Make the preview label display an explicit `+` sign for positive values. - Prevent a zero value from displaying as `-0.0 dB` instead of `0.0 dB`. - Scale notch lines on hiDPI displays.

2021-02-18Reorganize Project Settingsreduz
-Advanced Settings toggle also hides advanced properties when disabled -Simplified Advanced Bar (errors were just plain redundant) -Reorganized rendering quality settings. -Reorganized miscelaneous settings for clean up.
2021-02-11Improve resource load cachereduz
-Added a new method in Resource: reset_state , used for reloading the same resource from disk -Added a new cache mode "replace" in ResourceLoader, which reuses existing loaded sub-resources but resets their data from disk (or replaces them if they chaged type) -Because the correct sub-resource paths are always loaded now, this fixes bugs with subresource folding or subresource ordering when saving.

2021-01-01Update copyright statements to 2021Rémi Verschelde
Happy new year to the wonderful Godot community! 2020 has been a tough year for most of us personally, but a good year for Godot development nonetheless with a huge amount of work done towards Godot 4.0 and great improvements backported to the long-lived 3.2 branch. We've had close to 400 contributors to engine code this year, authoring near 7,000 commit! (And that's only for the `master` branch and for the engine code, there's a lot more when counting docs, demos and other first-party repos.) Here's to a great year 2021 for all Godot users 🎆
2020-12-23Rename Control margin to offsetMarcel Admiraal
2020-12-14Rename the TextureProgress node to TextureProgressBarHugo Locurcio
Advantages: - When searching for "progressbar", you'll see both nodes in the search results. - More consistent with Button/TextureButton.
2020-11-28Merge pull request #42109 from EricEzaM/PR/input-and-shortcuts-reworkRémi Verschelde

use Text Server interface. Implement interface mirroring. Add TextLine and TextParagraph classes. Handle UTF-16 input on macOS and Windows.
2020-11-23Implement new shortcuts system.Eric M
unhandled_key_input changed to unhandled_button_input. Controls can set a 'shortcut_context' which they can then use to determine if their shortcuts should be triggered or not, based on if the viewport's focused GUI control is a child of their 'shortcut context'.
2020-11-23Removed unhandled_key_input from editor AudioBus and instead connect to ↵Eric M
gui_input signal on tree for handling of effects shortcuts.
2020-10-01Renamed toplevel to be top_levelDuroxxigar
2020-07-14Resize dialogs (FileDialog, EditorFileDialog, Reparent, SceneTreeDialog and ↵Stijn Hinlopen
resource depency dialogs).
2020-07-11Prefer the highlight version of the "GuiTabIcon" icon for buttons, and make ↵Michael Alexsander
their width/height equal
2020-06-19Remove ToolButton in favor of ButtonHugo Locurcio
ToolButton has no redeeming differences with Button; it's just a Button with the Flat property enabled by default. Removing it avoids some confusion when creating GUIs. Existing ToolButtons will be converted to Buttons, but the Flat property won't be enabled automatically. This closes https://github.com/godotengine/godot-proposals/issues/1081.
2020-06-15Delete bus effect with Delete keyTomasz Chabora
2020-05-14Style: Enforce braces around if blocks and loopsRémi Verschelde
Using clang-tidy's `readability-braces-around-statements`. https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/readability-braces-around-statements.html
2020-05-14Style: Enforce separation line between function definitionsRémi Verschelde
I couldn't find a tool that enforces it, so I went the manual route: ``` find -name "thirdparty" -prune \ -o -name "*.cpp" -o -name "*.h" -o -name "*.m" -o -name "*.mm" \ -o -name "*.glsl" > files perl -0777 -pi -e 's/\n}\n([^#])/\n}\n\n\1/g' $(cat files) misc/scripts/fix_style.sh -c ``` This adds a newline after all `}` on the first column, unless they are followed by `#` (typically `#endif`). This leads to having lots of places with two lines between function/class definitions, but clang-format then fixes it as we enforce max one line of separation. This doesn't fix potential occurrences of function definitions which are indented (e.g. for a helper class defined in a .cpp), but it's better than nothing. Also can't be made to run easily on CI/hooks so we'll have to be careful with new code. Part of #33027.
